Lee Jinsook Files Complaint Against Yeongdeungpo Police Chief and Others for Abuse of Authority
Lee Jinsook, former Chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission, who was released after being detained by the police on charges including violations of the Public Official Election Act, has filed a complaint with the prosecution against police officials involved in her investigation.
On the afternoon of November 5, Lee met with reporters at the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office and stated that she had filed a complaint against the Chief of Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul, the head of the second investigative division, and an "unidentified accomplice" on charges of abuse of authority. Lee explained that she also had in mind the Chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, the head of the National Investigation Headquarters, and the acting Commissioner General of the National Police Agency, who received reports on and supervised the investigation.
Lee asserted, "The police summoned me several times, but there should be a reasonable cause for each summons," adding, "The third and final investigation was completely unnecessary."
She also emphasized that, contrary to the police's claim that the statute of limitations for her case under the Public Official Election Act is six months, it is actually ten years in her situation, and that this issue would also be clarified through her complaint.
