Jeong Seokchan, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center at Dong-Eui University, along with Research Professors Kang Youngjin and Kim Gihwan, received the Outstanding Paper Award at the '31st International Conference on IT Applications and Management (ITAM)' held at Gyeongsang National University from October 26 to 30, 2025.

This year's ITAM International Academic Conference, established in 2010 to promote research exchange and cooperation in the application and management of information technology, was co-hosted by the Korea Internet & Electronic Commerce Association, the Korea Data Strategy Society, the Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center at Dong-Eui University, and Gyeongsang National University.

A total of 138 participants from 12 countries-including South Korea, the United Kingdom, Italy, China, Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Egypt, and Russia-attended the conference, where 55 papers were presented.

Professor Jeong Seokchan's research team presented their paper, 'AIoT-Integrated Smart Aquaculture Management System: LSTM Water Quality Anomaly Forecasting with Yolov8 & Keypoint-Based Growths & Behaviors Monitoring,' which explored an AIoT-based smart aquaculture management platform, and was selected as an outstanding paper at the conference.

This research features a system that combines AI deep learning and IoT sensor networks to address the labor-intensive structure and inefficient water quality and growth management issues in the fish farming industry. The system efficiently integrates core aquaculture management functions such as water quality prediction, fish growth analysis and automated feeding, and abnormal behavior detection, thereby enhancing productivity.

Professor Jeong Seokchan stated, "This research is a meaningful achievement that demonstrates how AI and IoT technologies can solve real-world problems in the fisheries sector."

He emphasized, "We will expand the technologies secured through this research into field demonstrations and industrial collaborations to promote the commercialization and advancement of intelligent fisheries management technologies."
