According to the county on November 4, this performance is one of Donizetti's most renowned comedies and exemplifies the essence of the three great Italian operas. It is a two-act romantic comedy that blends a lively narrative with sweet melodies, and has been planned as a show for everyone, from beginners to opera enthusiasts.
The highlight of this performance will last about 70 minutes. While preserving the emotional depth of the original work, the show will include helpful commentary to aid audience understanding. The opera will be performed in its original Italian with Korean subtitles, enhancing audience immersion.
The stage is set in a rural Italian village in the 1880s, depicting the delightful episodes that unfold when Nemorino, an innocent young man who has a crush on Adina, the landowner’s daughter, receives the "elixir of love" from the traveling quack doctor Dulcamara.
This performance, which combines comic direction with beautiful melodies, promises both laughter and emotion. The cast features talented vocalists, including soprano Shin Eunseon as Adina and tenor Lee Seungmin as Nemorino, adding even more depth and warmth to the experience.
An official from the Buan Arts Center stated, "This special performance is designed to make opera more approachable and to convey the charm of classical music in an easy and enjoyable way. It is an opportunity for families to enjoy opera together and feel closer to classical culture. We will continue to do our best to broaden cultural experiences for residents through a variety of planned performances."
The performance is open to audiences aged five and older. All seats are priced at 10,000 won, but Buan County residents can enjoy a 90% discount and attend for just 1,000 won.
