Mayor Kim Dookyum Declares "Ulsan, the Garden City"
Ulsan City will host the "2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo Grand Festival for Success" at 6:30 p.m. on November 8 at the Taehwagang riverside in Nam-gu.
This event, themed "Ulsan: A True Landscape Painted by Industry," aims to wish for the successful hosting of the 2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo and to share the vision and significance of the expo with citizens.
Approximately 5,000 citizens are expected to attend, along with Ulsan Mayor Kim Dookyum, City Council Chairman Lee Seongryong, heads of major institutions, and garden experts.
Notably, the event will be attended by Tim Briercliffe, Secretary General of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), which approved the expo; Peter van der Vliet, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Korea; and world-renowned garden designer Bart Hoes, further enhancing the event's international stature.
The festival will be divided into a pre-ceremony, a commemorative ceremony, and a celebratory performance.
The pre-ceremony will open with a performance by the children's choir "Eunistella" and a success-themed performance by calligrapher Kim Sojeong. The commemorative ceremony will follow, featuring a video letter, a themed performance, a declaration of Ulsan as a garden city, and additional performances in succession.
The highlight of the event will be the themed performance, a "citizens' grand chorus." National singer Jung Hoonhee and 100 Ulsan citizens will perform "In the Flower Garden" together on stage, musically expressing Ulsan's vision as a garden city.
At the end of the song, Mayor Kim Dookyum will take the stage to officially declare "Ulsan, the Garden City" and make a promise with the citizens.
Additionally, video messages pre-recorded by celebrities and sports stars from Ulsan will be screened, delivering messages of support for the successful hosting of the expo.
After the commemorative ceremony, a celebratory performance will follow, featuring Park Jihyun, Song Minseok, Park Haemi, Shin Youngsook, and Jeon Sugyeong, further elevating the atmosphere.

The 2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo, under the theme "Utopia of Gardens, Cradle of the Earth," will be held for six months from April 22 to October 22, 2028, at Taehwagang National Garden and the Samsan-Yeocheon Reclamation Area.
