DB Insurance Secures Exclusive Use Right for Driving Behavior-Based 'UBI Special Clause'
DB Insurance announced on November 4 that its "Electronic Driving Record Information-Based Safe Driving UBI (Usage-Based Insurance) Special Clause," which evaluates the driving records of commercial cargo truck drivers and offers premium discounts, has been granted a three-month exclusive use right by the General Insurance Association of Korea's New Product Review Committee.
This special clause utilizes driving record data collected from digital tachographs (DTG), which are mandated by the Road Traffic Act. By analyzing risky driving behaviors such as speeding, sudden acceleration, and sudden braking, customers who achieve a safe driving score above a certain threshold (81 points or higher) can receive up to a 10% discount on their insurance premiums.
DB Insurance expects that this product will encourage cargo truck drivers to practice safe driving on their own, thereby contributing to reducing social costs associated with traffic accidents and increasing customer benefits.
A representative from DB Insurance stated, "The UBI special clause is significant in that it establishes a rational premium system by analyzing the driving information of commercial cargo trucks. We aim to lead the spread of a safe driving culture by encouraging cargo truck drivers to drive safely and providing them with tangible benefits."
