Innovative companies in the Chungcheong region have come together to call for government support for the digital transformation of manufacturing.
On November 4, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that it held a roundtable for innovative companies in the Chungcheong region at Lycon Town in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, to gather on-site opinions as part of its efforts to establish a “Plan for Korea to Become One of the World’s Top Four Venture Powerhouses.” The event was attended by Deputy Minister Noh Yongseok of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, as well as more than 20 representatives of innovative companies from the Chungcheong region.
This roundtable was organized as part of the government’s initiative to strengthen the venture and startup ecosystem in response to intensifying global technological competition and industrial transformation. Starting with the Chungcheong region, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to hold a series of nationwide relay roundtables, with the Yeongnam region (Busan) on November 12 and the Honam region (Gwangju) on November 24.
At the roundtable, representatives of defense and innovative companies in the Chungcheong region expressed the need for government support for the digital transformation of manufacturing, AI-driven manufacturing innovation for small and medium-sized enterprises, support for K-Defense, and technological support in the bio and pharmaceutical sectors. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to review these on-site opinions and reflect them in the process of policy formulation and improvement.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Noh stated, “The industrial landscape is being reshaped around strategic sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and energy,” adding, “We will strive to become a world-leading venture nation by fostering innovation-driven startups and revitalizing private investment.” He continued, “Each and every opinion you have shared today has been invaluable in reviewing and improving government policies. We will maintain close communication and continue to follow up so that today’s discussions do not end as a one-time event.”
