It is expected to contribute to strengthening local media capabilities and spreading everyday culture. Equipped with broadcast-quality equipment and infrastructure, it is regarded as a new turning point for the region’s economic and cultural development.
Located on the first floor of the Sokcho Marine Industrial Complex, the Media Center covers a total area of 338 square meters and features a multipurpose video studio, a visual radio studio, a children’s experience space, a digital education room, and club rooms. It is set to operate as a complex cultural platform where any citizen can learn professional media skills and create creative content.
The center will offer customized educational programs for all generations. In November, there will be experience tour programs, a one-person media course for beginners, special media lectures, and family participation programs. In February next year, courses such as a Photoshop master class, a beginner’s class for Premiere Pro, and smartphone video production training for seniors are scheduled to be offered.
Beyond simply serving as a space for education and experience, the center is also expected to help stimulate the local economy. Media education for local businesses, support for small business owners in creating online content, and the operation of live commerce will all play a direct role in promoting local small businesses and key tourist attractions through various media content production projects.
In particular, the senior programs are designed to provide practical media skills to middle-aged and older adults considering social activities after retirement. Through visual radio and club support programs, these initiatives are expected to help improve quality of life and foster new hobbies.
Lee Byeongseon, Mayor of Sokcho City, stated, "The Sokcho Media Center will become a new source of content that captures the diverse stories and charms of Sokcho citizens. Through this, Sokcho City will overcome the crisis of regional extinction and be reborn as a media city that produces and shares cultural content."
