Mokpo City to Cut Shared Property Rent for Small Businesses and SMEs by 50%
Easing Business Burden with This Year’s Rent Reduction
Applications Accepted Until December 12
Mokpo City in South Jeolla Province will reduce rent for city-owned shared properties by 50% to ease the business burden on small business owners and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) struggling due to the economic downturn.
On the 3rd, the city announced that, in accordance with the revised Enforcement Decree of the Public Property and Commodity Management Act and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's notice in September, it is accepting applications for rent (usage fees and lease fees) reductions imposed from January to December this year.
The application period runs until December 12. Eligible applicants are tenants who are currently using city-owned shared property and are classified as small business owners or SMEs under Article 2 of the Small Business Act and the Framework Act on Small and Medium Enterprises. However, those who pay occupation or usage fees for roads, parks, rivers, etc. under other laws, as well as businesses in the entertainment or gambling sectors, are excluded from support.
Applications must be submitted in person or by mail to the department in charge of each shared property lease, along with the application form, a certificate confirming SME (or small business) status, and a copy of the bank account. The SME (small business) certificate can be obtained from the SME Status Information System.

A city official stated, "This rent reduction aims to support small business owners and SMEs facing business difficulties due to the economic downturn," adding, "We will actively guide eligible applicants so they can apply within the period and receive the benefits."
