97.5% Apply for Second Round of Consumer Coupons... 4.45 Trillion Won Distributed
Lower Application Rate Than First Round's 99%
Consumer Coupons Usable Until the 30th of This Month
The final tally shows that 97.5% of those eligible for the second round of livelihood recovery consumer coupons applied for the coupons. A total of 4.4527 trillion won in consumer coupons was distributed to these recipients.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on November 3, applications and distribution for the second round of consumer coupons closed at 6 p.m. on October 31. A total of 44.53 million people applied, accounting for 97.5% of all eligible recipients (approximately 45.67 million people).

View original imageThe total amount distributed to these applicants was 4.4527 trillion won. The most popular method was through credit and debit cards, with 34.89 million cases (68.5%). Local gift certificates (both mobile and paper) accounted for 8.25 million cases (18.5%), while prepaid cards made up 5.79 million cases (13.0%).
By region, the highest application rates were seen in Jeonnam (98.14%), Jeonbuk (98.12%), and Gwangju (98.08%). In contrast, Seoul had the lowest rate nationwide at 96.54%.
The government began distributing the second round of consumer coupons, worth 100,000 won per person, to 90% of the population (excluding the top 10% by income) on September 22 this year. In the first round, which was provided to the entire population, the application rate was higher, with 98.96% of eligible recipients applying.

The usage deadline for both the first and second rounds of consumer coupons is November 30. Any unused coupons by the deadline will be reclaimed by the national treasury.
