In particular, since 2020, the county has significantly expanded social overhead capital by renovating outdated waterworks and building cultural and sports facilities, thereby laying the foundation for balanced regional development.
In the field of eco-friendly and clean projects, Gapyeong County is actively pursuing sustainable development initiatives such as the creation of an eco-friendly music village, the construction of an eco-friendly lifelong learning center, and the establishment of an eco-friendly forest culture activation support center. In 2026, the county plans to newly launch the 'EnerGreen Project' aimed at achieving energy self-sufficiency in public sewage systems, laying the groundwork for carbon neutrality.
Since 2023, Gapyeong County has established the 'Gapyeong County Environmental Policy Advisory Committee' and has been actively participating in various public project contests, making every effort to secure additional Han River Watershed Management Funds. These efforts have led to a more systematic approach to project implementation and have resulted in achievements that link the expansion of environmental infrastructure with resident welfare projects.
Thanks to the county's active efforts, the amount of support from the Han River Watershed Management Fund has increased significantly, from 775 million won in 2016 to 5.1 billion won in 2024. In particular, 2024 has become a turning point for regional development, with large-scale projects combining welfare and environmental initiatives such as the construction of the Cheongpyeong-myeon Comprehensive Welfare Center and the eco-friendly lifelong learning center.
