View original imageThe "2025 Adidas Golden Champs Taekwondo Chuncheon," held on the 1st, concluded successfully amid the passionate enthusiasm of youth athletes from across the country. This event saw participation from over 1,200 athletes representing 73 dojangs nationwide, with official poomsae competitions (individual, pair, and team events) held for non-professional athletes from first grade in elementary school to second grade in middle school.
The men's division took place on Courts 1 and 2, while the women's division was held on Courts 3 to 5, allowing all participants to fully experience the excitement of the event. The stands were packed with parents and citizens cheering for the athletes, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
In particular, a variety of side events brought even more excitement and laughter to the gymnasium, including a dynamic performance by the Team Adidas Bisang Demonstration Team, an autograph session with poomsae prodigy Lee Jooyoung and athletes Seo Chaewon and Lee Jin-ho, and a snowball game with ambassadors.
Previously, the Chuncheon Leisure Taekwondo Organizing Committee signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Adidas Combat Sports Korea in August and has been working closely together to ensure the successful hosting of this event.
This competition marks the first time the "Adidas Golden Champs Taekwondo" series, which had previously been centered around the Seoul metropolitan area, was held in Chuncheon. It is seen as a meaningful step toward revitalizing local sports and broadening the base of youth athlete participation. The city also noted that the increase in family visitors contributed to the local economy, boosting sectors such as lodging and dining.
