Kim Jungbin of Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation Wins Double Gold in Cycling at National Para Games
Kim Jungbin, an athlete affiliated with Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation, became a double gold medalist at the 45th National Para Games by winning gold medals in both the men's tandem cycling individual time trial 19km B (athlete division) and the individual road race 83km B (athlete division).
Tandem cycling is a cycling event for visually impaired athletes, in which a non-disabled athlete (pilot) sits in the front and a visually impaired athlete sits in the back, pedaling together as a team of two.

View original imageKim Jungbin was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa in middle school and lost his vision in his early twenties. However, he did not give in to despair and took up sports to find new vitality. Starting with showdown, a ball sport for the visually impaired, he went on to participate in cross-country skiing, biathlon, and powerlifting before beginning tandem cycling in 2016. After being selected as a national team member in 2018 and continuing to train steadily, Kim Jungbin proved his skills on the global stage by winning three gold medals in the tandem cycling events at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Para Games.
