Boseong County Selected for Agricultural Product Safety Analysis Laboratory Project
Securing 1 Billion Won in Project Funding
Raising Expectations for Local Agricultural Product Safety
Boseong County in South Jeolla Province announced on October 31 that it has been finally selected for the "2025 Agricultural Product Safety Analysis Laboratory Establishment Project" promoted by the Rural Development Administration, securing a total project budget of 1 billion won.
This project aims to expand specialized facilities for analyzing the safety of agricultural products during the production and local food distribution stages. Among the regions in South Jeolla Province, Boseong County was the only one selected for this project.
Since 2009, the county has independently conducted safety inspections of agricultural products. However, with the diversification of distribution channels and increasing consumer demands, there has been a consistent need to expand advanced analytical equipment and improve laboratory environments.
With the secured national funding, the county plans to introduce additional precision analysis equipment, such as multi-residue pesticide analyzers (LC-MS/MS), and enhance sample preprocessing and quality management systems, aiming to improve annual testing capacity by approximately 150% compared to the current level.
Additionally, by reorganizing the laboratory space and improving the environment, the county will increase work efficiency, expand pre-distribution safety inspections for local agricultural products, and gradually broaden its service scope to include technical support for reducing pesticide residues for farmers.
