First Lady Kim Hye-kyung visited the National Gyeongju Museum in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, where the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit is being held, to view the Silla gold crown and gold belt.
According to Presidential Office Deputy Spokesperson Jeon Eun-soo on the 30th, Mrs. Kim toured the "Silla Gold Crown: Power and Prestige" exhibition at the Silla History Gallery of the National Gyeongju Museum. The exhibition was organized to commemorate the hosting of APEC in Gyeongju, allowing visitors to appreciate the Silla gold crown and gold belt together in one place for the first time.
The exhibition features a total of 22 cases and 35 artifacts, including the Geumgwanchong Gold Crown. Among them are seven National Treasures and nine Treasures.
Yoon Sang-deok, Director of the National Gyeongju Museum, explained, "Silla was called the 'Land of Gold' because a wide variety of gold ornaments were excavated from large and small tombs. Now, for the first time in over 100 years since the initial discovery of the gold crown-a symbol of kingship-we are able to display them together in one place."
Mrs. Kim said, "Visiting the National Gyeongju Museum in person, I can truly feel that Gyeongju, where the APEC Summit is being held, is a place where the entire region is history and culture itself. I hope many people from across the country and around the world will visit here to experience Korea's history and culture."
