This summit, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by KOTRA, is the largest foreign investment attraction event in Korea, with more than 2,000 participants including overseas investors and representatives from 17 domestic cities and provinces.
Gwangju City and the Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority are operating a joint promotional booth at the event, putting forward the vision of "Gwangju, a city centered on artificial intelligence (AI) and future mobility industries." The booth highlights Gwangju's unique investment environment and cutting-edge infrastructure, focusing on key strategic industrial hubs such as the AI Convergence District, the Future Mobility Industry District, and the Smart Energy Industry District.
In particular, a video is being screened that introduces the current status of the "AX Demonstration Valley" project, which is the second phase of Gwangju's AI initiative, as well as successful growth stories of local AI companies, capturing the attention of overseas investors. In addition, detailed information is being provided on incentives, site information, and subsidy systems to help foreign investors make informed decisions.
These proactive investment attraction efforts are already yielding tangible results. In June, Gwangju City demonstrated its investment competitiveness by signing a foreign direct investment (FDI) agreement worth 4 million dollars with Aegis Co., Ltd., a domestic manufacturer of insulation and specialty glass processing equipment, and LiSEC GmbH of Austria, which holds the top global market share.
Sun Seokgi, Commissioner of the Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority, said, "By meeting with foreign investors and global corporate representatives, we will showcase the state-of-the-art infrastructure and business support capabilities of Gwangju's strategic industries. We will do our utmost to achieve substantial investment attraction through active and continuous exchanges."
