Previously, in July, Chuncheon City proposed the establishment of the center at Hallym University to ensure the stable and sustainable operation of the Great Books program. With the university's active cooperation, the education center has been set up at Hallym University, and it is expected that the Chuncheon-style Great Books program will now have a more sustainable framework.
The education center will be responsible for designing and operating the Chuncheon-style Great Books curriculum, developing a professional tutor certification program, and fostering exchange and cooperation with St. John's College in the United States. Going forward, the plan is to expand classical discussion programs that students and citizens can participate in together, as well as to train professional tutors, thereby broadening the region's humanities education ecosystem.
Hallym University, which operates the center, will systematize the program based on its expertise in humanities-based education and academic capabilities, while Chuncheon City will provide policy support and establish a foundation for local participation, aiming to create an open liberal arts education environment accessible to all.
