Gwangju Seogu Expands Free Parking at Paid Public Lots to 1 Hour
Seven Locations Including Hyosa Children’s Park Public Parking Lot
Starting November 1, Seogu District in Gwangju will extend the free parking time at paid public parking lots within the district from the current 10 minutes to 1 hour.
According to Seogu District on October 30, this measure was implemented to reduce residents' parking costs and improve accessibility to neighborhood commercial areas, thereby boosting merchants' sales. The policy applies to seven locations: Chopyeong, Chopyeong Neuti, Hwajeong 2-dong, Geumho-dong, Dongcheon-dong, Hwajeong-dong, and Hyosa Children’s Park public parking lots.
In addition, Seogu District will increase the discount rate for commercial parking permits at public parking lots located in densely populated commercial areas (Chopyeong, Chopyeong Neuti, Hwajeong 2-dong, Geumho-dong, Dongcheon-dong) from the current 20% to 30%. Public parking lots situated in residential areas (Hwajeong-dong, Hyosa Children’s Park) will be designated as residential-only parking lots, offering discounted season tickets to local residents.
Lee Ikang, Mayor of Seogu District, stated, "This measure is a parking policy aimed at alleviating residents' real-life inconveniences and revitalizing neighborhood commercial areas. We will continue to pursue mutually beneficial administration that both residents and the local community can truly experience."
