"Benefiting the World with Electricity"... Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute Marks 49th Anniversary
President Kim Namgyun Urges:
"Never Stop Imagining the Future,
Strive for Breakthrough Achievements"
The Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) held a ceremony on October 30 in the main auditorium of its Changwon headquarters to mark its 49th anniversary and reaffirm its new vision as a leading institution in electrical technology.
In his commemorative address, President Kim Namgyun stated, "Since its establishment in 1976, KERI has grown into the only specialized electrical research institute in Korea and a world-class power equipment testing and certification agency, thanks to the dedication of its executives and staff amid numerous changes and challenges."

View original imageThis year's major achievements include: supporting the launch of the Jangbogo-III No. 1 submarine (Jang Youngsil) through the Land-Based Test Site (LBTS) for electric ships; opening the world's first electric vehicle Global Interoperability Test Center (GiOTEC); launching the AI CNC Demonstration Center for the advancement of machine tools; and receiving the Order of Science and Technology Merit, Innovation Medal (awarded to Bang Wook, Head of Power Semiconductor Research Division).
President Kim, emphasizing KERI's vision of "Benefiting the World with Electricity," urged, "The technologies we develop represent Korea's national technology. Let us never stop imagining the future and strive for breakthrough achievements."
The event also featured an awards ceremony, including the National Research Council of Science & Technology (NST) Chairman's Award, Model Employee Award, Integrity Award, and Long Service Award, as well as a celebration for the opening of the newly remodeled library, 'Larchive.'

Meanwhile, KERI is a government-funded research institute specializing in electrical technology under the National Research Council of Science & Technology, part of the Ministry of Science and ICT. Established in December 1976, it operates three regional branches in Ansan, Uiwang, and Gwangju in addition to its Changwon headquarters. Its main research areas include power grids, smart grids, electric mobility, power semiconductors, nano-new materials, and testing and certification.
