The Financial Services Commission has finally carried out its first-grade personnel appointments. With the long-delayed first-grade appointments now implemented, director-level appointments are also expected to follow.
On the 29th, the Financial Services Commission announced the promotion of Park Minwoo, Director General of the Capital Markets Bureau, to Standing Commissioner of the Securities and Futures Commission, and Ahn Changguk, Director General of the Financial Industry Bureau, to Standing Commissioner of the Financial Services Commission. Lee Hyungjoo, Standing Commissioner of the Financial Services Commission, will be transferred to serve as the head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
Park, the new Standing Commissioner of the Securities and Futures Commission, entered public service through the 40th National Civil Service Examination. He graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in law and has held positions such as Director of the Capital Markets Division at the Financial Services Commission, Attach? at the Embassy of Korea in Russia, Director of the Banking Division, Head of the Economic and Livelihood Team at the Government Joint Anti-Corruption Promotion Group under the Office for Government Policy Coordination, Director of the Financial Innovation Planning Group, and Director General of the Capital Markets Bureau.
Park, the new Standing Commissioner, is recognized as a "capital markets expert" not only among first-grade officials at the Financial Services Commission but also among junior officials. It is said that Park Minwoo's name appears in most of the major capital market bills enacted by the Financial Services Commission over the past 10 years.
Ahn, the new Standing Commissioner of the Financial Services Commission, entered public service through the 41st National Civil Service Examination. After graduating from Yonsei University with a degree in economics, he served as Director of the Industrial Finance Division, Director of the Capital Markets Division, Head of the Capital Markets Investigation Team, Head of the Financial Stability Support Team, Director of the Financial Innovation Planning Group, Director of the FIU System Operations Planning Office, and Director General of the Financial Industry Bureau at the Financial Services Commission.
Lee, the new head of the FIU, entered public service through the 39th National Civil Service Examination and is widely trusted for both his competence and character. He has held key positions such as Director of the Inclusive Finance Division, Director of the Industrial Finance Division, Director of the Capital Markets Division, Director of the Financial Policy Division, Director of the Financial Innovation Planning Group, Director General of the Financial Industry Bureau, and Director General of the Financial Policy Bureau at the Financial Services Commission.
