Choi Minho Leads Sejong Mayoral Race, but Many Say "No to Re-election"

With the upcoming local elections, ongoing opinion polls are drawing significant attention from the local political community.
With seven months remaining until the 9th nationwide local elections scheduled for June next year, a public opinion poll was conducted regarding the mayoral race in Sejong. The survey found that the incumbent mayor, Choi Minho, is currently leading the race.
According to a poll commissioned by TJB Daejeon Broadcasting and conducted by Jowon C&I among Sejong residents on their preferences for the next mayor, Choi Minho, the current mayor, is in the lead with 19.3%. Kim Suhyeon, head of the Democratic Innovation Council of Sejong, follows with 12.0%, and Hwang Unha, a member of the National Assembly from the National Innovation Party, ranks third with 11.2%.
Next, former Sejong Mayor Lee Chunhee received 10.2%, former Sejong Vice Mayor Jo Sangho received 9.3%, and former Sejong Vice Mayor Lee Junbae received 5.9%. Respondents who answered "Don't know" accounted for 13.2%, "None" for 12.8%, and "Others" for 6.0%.
However, when asked about their intention to support the re-election of the incumbent Mayor Choi Minho, the results were reversed. While 27.5% said they would support him, 52.8% stated they would not, exceeding half of the respondents. Those who answered "Not sure" accounted for 19.8%.
Regarding the significance of next year's local elections, 52.7% responded that a ruling party candidate should be elected to support the current administration, surpassing half of the respondents. Meanwhile, 38.3% said an opposition party candidate should be elected to judge the current administration. Those who answered "Don't know" accounted for 9.0%.

This survey was conducted by Jowon C&I at the request of TJB Daejeon Broadcasting on October 25 and 26, 2025, targeting 805 men and women aged 18 and older residing in Sejong Special Self-Governing City. The survey used an ARS (automated response system) method with 100% mobile phone virtual numbers, and proportional random sampling by gender, age group, and region. Out of a total of 11,772 call attempts, the response rate was 6.8%. The margin of error is ±3.5 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
