It is reported that, ahead of this visit to Japan, President Trump had taken a cautious stance regarding the meeting with the victims' families. As he is scheduled to visit South Korea during the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit on October 29-30, and is hoping for a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, it appears that President Trump was careful not to unnecessarily provoke North Korea.
