Tetra Pak Korea Participates in 'Cipore 2025'... Operates Booth for 'Paper-Based Protective Layer Sterile Pack'
View original imageTetra Pak Korea, a global leader in food pre-processing and packaging technology, announced that it participated as a sponsor in the 'City Forest Festival (Cipore) 2025,' held on October 25 around Nodeul Island on the Han River in Seoul. The company operated an experiential brand booth themed around its new paper-based protective layer sterile pack.
Cipore is a large-scale outdoor sports festival that has been held since 2017 with the aim of bringing healthy energy to urban life. This year, more than 3,000 participants joined the event. As part of its brand campaign, 'The Right Move,' Tetra Pak set up a booth at the venue to communicate the importance of sustainable packaging and the value of proper waste separation to citizens.
In particular, this Tetra Pak booth focused on the paper-based barrier sterile pack, which is made with approximately 87% plant-based materials. This innovative package replaces the aluminum layer with a paper-based material and was introduced by Tetra Pak in Korea this September, marking its first launch in Asia. By increasing the paper content to 76% and the plant-based material ratio to 87%, the package maintains the same food safety and shelf life as conventional sterile packs while reducing environmental impact. As a result, carbon emissions (CO2e) generated throughout the production and consumption process were reduced by 23%, as verified by the international climate consulting firm Carbon Trust. The new sterile pack was first applied to Maeil Dairy's flagship plant-based, low-sugar soy milk product, Maeil Soymilk 99.9.
The booth featured a variety of programs that visitors could easily participate in. A large 'find the matching picture' board was set up, where participants matched images such as 'Maeil Soymilk 99.9' and '87% plant-based ingredients' within a time limit. Through these games, visitors had the opportunity to learn about Tetra Pak's sustainable packaging solutions and the importance of proper recycling in daily life.

To further encourage voluntary participation in resource circulation, a collection bin for used sterile packs was installed at the venue. Citizens who properly returned their empty products using the bin were rewarded with a sports towel, which could be conveniently used during the festival.
On the day of the event, Julian Quintart, a broadcaster and Tetra Pak's brand ambassador, attended the booth, engaging with Cipore participants to share the significance of eco-friendly packaging and encourage recycling efforts.
