The project consists of hosting a youth diaspora forum, providing career mentoring for adolescents, and fostering mutual cultural understanding and training exhibition docents.
The city explained that being selected for this project will help alleviate the financial burden of operating the Koryoin Cultural Center, which had previously been fully funded by the city’s own budget. Next year, the city plans to allocate a total budget of 400 million won for the center’s operation, including 200 million won in national funding secured through this project and 200 million won from the city’s own funds.
Earlier this year, the city was also selected for another public contest by the Overseas Koreans Agency, securing 100 million won in national funding. Based on this, the city is currently conducting projects to support the settlement of Koryoin compatriots, including a human rights survey and basic legal education for initial adaptation.
