Ulsan City and the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) have joined forces to actively support local technology-based startups in entering the global market.
The city supported the participation of nine Ulsan-based startups in "DC Startup Week 2025 (DCSTW 2025)," which was held in Washington, DC, United States, from October 20 to October 24, 2025.
"DC Startup Tech Week 2025" is a large-scale event where startups, technology innovators, investors, and entrepreneurs gather to network, hold investment consultations, and share ideas.
The participating companies were: △EumBio (new drug efficacy evaluation service based on killifish models), △Maida (AI body shape analysis solution based on 3D posture estimation), △Quantize Labs (AI-curated short-term rental platform), △Skyde (image-based AI military drones), △Pharos Marine (electric propulsion systems for small and medium-sized vessels), △Bolton (self-heating lithium-ion battery packs), △Damiex (AI-based battery condition prediction program), △Market of Material (machine learning-based online steel trading service), and △Korea BTS (smart cleaning robot system based on physical AI technology).
These companies were selected for the "Global Growth Startup Support Program," a joint initiative by Ulsan City and UNIST to help promising startups with technological competitiveness within seven years of founding to expand overseas.
At the event, the companies showcased their technological capabilities and growth potential to global investors and technology partners in industries where the US federal government is actively procuring, such as artificial intelligence (AI), healthcare, and defense.
They also sought tailored partnerships by visiting the Amazon Web Services (AWS) headquarters, holding a meeting with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, and building local investor networks.
The companies also participated in the "Ulsan Startup Showcase," an official program co-organized by SID Partners US, a local startup accelerator, and UNIST.
Notably, at the public event held on October 24 at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC, Ulsan companies demonstrated their technological prowess to US investors and global corporate representatives.
A UNIST official stated, "We will systematically nurture local technology-based startups to invigorate the industrial ecosystem," adding, "This program will serve as a stepping stone for Ulsan startups to expand into the global market."
