Gumi Holds 46th Anniversary Memorial and Commemoration Ceremony for President Park Chunghee

The Unending Wave of Remembrance for President Park Chunghee
On October 26, at 10:30 a.m., the city of Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, held the "46th Anniversary Memorial Service and Commemoration Ceremony for President Park Chunghee" at his birthplace to mark the anniversary of his passing.
The event was attended by Kim Hakhong, Deputy Governor of North Gyeongsang Province; Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi; National Assembly members Koo Jageun, Kang Myunggu, and Lim Ija; Park Gyosang, Chairman of the City Council; and approximately 300 other mourners who paid tribute to President Park Chunghee.
The ceremony included a memorial ritual, commemorative speeches, listening to recordings of the late president's voice, and concluded with floral tributes and incense offerings.

View original imageThis year, in particular, marks the 60th anniversary of the dispatch of Korean nurses to Germany, and to commemorate this, the Korean Nurses Association in Germany, led by President Park Sohyang, graced the occasion with their presence.
Additionally, the Gumi Tea Association served coffee and tea to the attendees, while the Morosil Association prepared rice cakes, contributing to the event through voluntary service and adding warmth to the gathering.
Jung Jae-hwa, Chairman of the Park Chunghee Presidential Birthplace Preservation Association, which organized and hosted the event, stated, "Under President Park Chunghee's slogan 'Let's Live Well,' the spirit of self-reliance, diligence, and cooperation united the people and enabled national development. I hope this event will not only commemorate the past but also serve as a new leap toward the future."
In his commemorative address, Gumi Mayor Kim Jangho said, "By inheriting President Park Chunghee's 'can-do' spirit, we will seize opportunities such as attracting the Defense Industry Innovation Cluster, the semiconductor-specialized complex, the Opportunity Development Zone, and the designation of the Cultural Leading Industrial Complex to overcome challenging times and pursue the path of self-reliant national defense and economic independence."

The Park Chunghee Presidential Birthplace Preservation Association holds annual memorial and birthday events, as well as leadership lectures and other commemorative projects related to President Park Chunghee. The association also operates and manages the president's birthplace to preserve the site and provide convenience for visitors. This year's birthday cultural event is scheduled to be held on November 14 at the Gumi Multipurpose Sports Center in Gwangpyeong-dong.
