Request for Full Support of Cultural Exchange Budget

Kim Tae-heum, Governor of South Chungcheong Province, visited Nara Prefecture in Japan and emphasized that “true progress in international exchange is only possible when hearts are connected,” highlighting the importance of cooperation and shared prosperity between the future generations of South Korea and Japan.
According to South Chungcheong Province on October 25, Governor Kim met with Yamashita Makoto, Governor of Nara Prefecture, Tanaka Tadamitsu, Chairman of the Nara Prefectural Assembly, Fujino Yoshitsugu, Vice Chairman, Okuni Masahiro, Chairman of the General Affairs and Police Committee, and assembly members Iwata Kunio and Ikeda Norihisa at Hotel Nikko Nara in Japan on October 24.
Governor Kim expressed his gratitude for Governor Yamashita’s participation in last year’s “Bay Valley International Symposium” and for the attendance of assembly members Iwata and Okuni at the “Great Baekje Exhibition.” He stated, “Since the Korea-Japan cultural exchange performance and the seminar on the 25th were realized at Governor Yamashita’s suggestion, I believe the relationship between our two regions will develop even further.”
He added, “I hope that South Chungcheong Province and Nara Prefecture will achieve genuine communication between people, allowing our hearts to connect, so that future generations can grow together and move toward shared prosperity.”
He also said, “We had intended to expand the cultural exchange performance to the level of national broadcasting, but unfortunately, the budget did not pass the Nara Prefectural Assembly. I hope that, going forward, the exchange budgets between our two regions will not be reduced.”
In response, Yamashita Makoto, Governor of Nara Prefecture, said, “I am pleased that we are able to hold such a meaningful event together, marking both the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Japan and the 15th anniversary of the friendship exchange agreement between Nara Prefecture and South Chungcheong Province. This cultural exchange also aligns with the ‘future-oriented Korea-Japan relations’ emphasized by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.”
