He continued, "While the city has achieved remarkable growth through the expansion of transportation infrastructure, medical infrastructure remains insufficient. Along with the Gyeonggi-do Innovative Public Medical Center in Baekbong District, we plan to significantly strengthen the healthcare system by attracting a tertiary hospital, establishing it as a core foundation to prepare for the era of a one-million-population megacity."
In particular, Mayor Joo stated, "Now is the golden time to attract a tertiary hospital. We will focus all administrative resources to provide citizens with cutting-edge medical services and a stable emergency medical system."
On October 24, in response to Councilor Jeon Hyeyeon's question regarding the Hwado-eup Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, Mayor Joo explained the plans to expand the project.
Mayor Joo Kwangdeok stated that since the Hwado-eup Urban Regeneration New Deal Project was selected in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 2019 public contest, the total project cost has been expanded from 70.4 billion won to 111.9 billion won, reflecting residents' opinions.
Key projects include the construction of a smart multi-purpose parking tower with 150 parking spaces, the installation of a roundabout, and the creation of a cultural and artistic street. The Maetdolmoru Platform will be expanded to a scale of two underground and six above-ground floors, with construction scheduled to begin in the first half of next year. The city plans to swiftly implement these projects to resolve transportation issues and revitalize the commercial district, thereby breathing new life into the old downtown area.
