They were both seen descending together from the second floor near the Apollo Gallery of the Louvre Museum using the lift of the ladder truck. While the thieves calmly descended the ladder truck, cars were passing along the riverside road of the Seine in Paris, and people could be seen peacefully strolling along the riverbank. The crime took place around 9:30 a.m. on the 19th, during the busy morning rush hour with heavy traffic.
The video also captured the voices of men believed to be security guards at the Louvre Museum, as well as audio that appeared to be security personnel communicating via walkie-talkie. One security guard said over the radio, "They're on a scooter. They're about to escape. They're escaping," while the man who appeared to be filming the video with a smartphone urgently exclaimed, "Damn! They're about to escape!" He also desperately called out, "Police!" expressing frustration at the police's delayed arrival.

Le Parisien confirmed that the video captured a real event, but stated that it could not say for sure who filmed it or from where. However, based on the location and circumstances shown in the footage, it is presumed to have been taken with a smartphone from another building near the Louvre Museum. Le Parisien added that the most shocking aspect was how calm the two suspects appeared, and reported that after descending to the ground using the ladder truck, the thieves attempted to set the vehicle on fire but failed.
