Korea National University of Cultural Heritage to Exhibit Restoration Designs Including Changgyeonggung Palace
October 28 to November 2 at Seonwonjeon, Deoksugung Palace
Showcasing Research on Traditional and Modern Architectural Heritage
The Korea National University of Cultural Heritage will hold the "Traditional Architecture Exhibition" from October 28 to November 2 at the former executive residence of Chosun Savings Bank, located in the Seonwonjeon area of Deoksugung Palace. The exhibition aims to explore the value of traditional and modern architectural heritage.
Under the theme "Continuing Stories," the exhibition will showcase sixteen works by students from the Department of Traditional Architecture, including graduation theses and design projects. The works on display range from restoration designs for Changgyeonggung Palace to research on traditional and modern architectural heritage, restoration designs of traditional architecture, and adaptive reuse designs for modern buildings.
The students explored the spatial composition principles of traditional architecture by creating restoration designs of architectural relics, from ancient times to the Joseon Dynasty, that no longer exist in physical form. They have also undertaken various attempts, such as design interpretations based on literature and archaeological data, and research into preservation and utilization strategies for modern cultural heritage.
