First Artificial Intelligence Education Hub in Northern Gyeonggi
Establishing a Core Base Connecting AI Education, Industry, and Startups
Gyeonggi Province, Goyang City, Global Tech Companies, and Universities Gather Together
The "Gyeonggi Northern AI Campus," which Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, successfully attracted by delivering a direct presentation during the Gyeonggi Province AI Campus bidding process in March, opened on the 23rd at the Creative Innovation Campus in Seongsa-dong, Deogyang-gu.

View original imageThe opening ceremony, hosted by Gyeonggi Province, was attended by Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province; Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City; National Assembly members Kim Seonghoe and Kim Younghwan; Provincial Assembly member Shim Hongsoon; as well as representatives from Amazon Web Services, Cisco, IBM, Naver Cloud, and Microsoft, and officials from Sungkyunkwan University, Korea Aerospace University, and Korea Polytechnic University.
At the ceremony, Gyeonggi Province, Goyang City, global tech companies, and universities signed the "Gyeonggi Province AI Talent Development Partnership" agreement, pledging to collaborate on nurturing AI talent and building an industrial ecosystem.
Mayor Lee Donghwan, who actively led the effort by delivering a direct presentation during the Gyeonggi Province AI Campus bidding process in March, stated, "We will spare no effort in ensuring that the Gyeonggi Northern AI Campus becomes not only a global hub for cultivating AI talent but also an excellent learning center for citizens."
He also said, "Through this partnership, I look forward to Gyeonggi Province's talent developing their technological capabilities in the best possible environment and, furthermore, demonstrating their skills in Ilsan Technovalley and the Goyang Free Economic Zone, shaping the future of Korea."
The "Gyeonggi Northern AI Campus" is the first artificial intelligence (AI) education hub in northern Gyeonggi Province, occupying approximately 530 square meters on the 16th floor of the Creative Innovation Campus at Wondang Station. It is equipped with lecture rooms, meeting rooms, experience zones, and communication spaces, providing facilities for both education and hands-on activities.
