Sejong City, Where Bicycle Use Is High, Recruiting Participants for Bicycle Maintenance and Safety Training on a First-Come, First-Served Basis
Registration Opens on the 23rd
Free Participation Available for All Citizens
Sejong City is so well-designed for cycling that it is often referred to as the city of bicycles. Public and shared bicycle systems are well operated, and bicycle lanes are installed throughout the city.
Given that many citizens use bicycles, the city is recruiting participants for basic bicycle maintenance and safety training on a first-come, first-served basis.
According to Sejong City on October 22, this training program was prepared to enhance the effectiveness of safe bicycle use, following the free safety education sessions for bicycles and personal mobility devices (PM) held in both the first and second halves of this year.
The upcoming bicycle maintenance and safety training will be held over two days, on November 12 and 15, with each session lasting three hours. Applications for participants are accepted through the city hall website, with 25 people recruited for each session.
Participants will receive theoretical training on traffic safety, including compliance requirements and safety rules for bicycles and personal mobility devices, as well as fixed-gear bicycles. They will also receive hands-on instruction on basic bicycle maintenance, enabling them to repair minor malfunctions themselves.
In particular, they will learn how to inspect and repair common issues such as flat tires and detached bicycle chains on their own. For further details, inquiries can be directed to the Bicycle Culture Team of the Public Transportation Division at City Hall.
