More than 120 residents and children participated, including members from the Seokbo Student Lovers Association and the Ipbam Shooting Star Village School. The event served as a meaningful opportunity to promote biodiversity conservation and foster ecological sensitivity.
In particular, the National Institute of Ecology Endangered Species Restoration Center participated as special instructors, offering hands-on lectures such as 'Installing Artificial Nests for Flying Squirrels' and 'Building Insect Hotels,' which effectively communicated the importance of biodiversity conservation. In addition, Yeongyang County Office managed booths and provided administrative support throughout the event, contributing to its successful operation.
Participants directly experienced and enjoyed the value of the wetland ecosystem through a variety of activities.
On-site, there were Shrinkle experience booths and endangered species augmented reality (VR) booths that captured the interest of children. Programs such as the 'Wetland Quiz' and 'Ecological Treasure Hunt' naturally combined learning and play, creating an educational environment.
To raise awareness about recent wetland fires, a photo exhibition was set up, providing participants with an opportunity to reflect once again on the importance of wetland conservation.
The event concluded with a 'plogging' activity (picking up litter while jogging), during which participants collected trash around the venue, adding practical meaning to their love for nature.
Local delicacies also enriched the event. The traditional dish 'Gochu-juk' from Posan Village was served and received an enthusiastic response, with many commenting that it was a precious opportunity to experience both the taste of tradition and the beauty of nature.
This event is expected to be remembered as a good example of how voluntary participation by local residents and cooperation with public institutions can help establish ecological conservation activities within the community.
