Gumi City Presents Original Musical "Wangsan, Stars That Became Mountains" Celebrating Anti-Japanese Spirit
A Moving Stage Honoring the 117th Anniversary of Wangsan Heo Wi's Sacrifice
A Historical Musical Created by Local Teachers and Students Touches the Audience
On October 19, the city of Gumi in North Gyeongsang Province held a performance of the original musical 'Wangsan, Stars That Became Mountains' at the Small Theater of the Culture and Arts Center.
This performance was offered free of charge, allowing any citizen to attend without prior reservation. It received an enthusiastic response as a meaningful stage created jointly by local youth and teachers.
The musical focused on the struggle and sacrifice of Wangsan Heo Wi, an anti-Japanese militia leader from Gumi.
The production and performance were carried out directly by 'Heotjical', a musical research group of local teachers in North Gyeongsang Province led by Kim Chanseong, and the 'Mamamyu' club, a coalition of students from Seonju Elementary School, Bonggok Middle School, and Otae Middle School.
Going beyond a simple performance, the event also featured a history lecture and renditions of famous musical OSTs, delivering a vivid and moving experience to the audience.
