Twenty participants attended, including Seongnam Mayor Shin Sangjin, representatives from healthcare organizations, the fire department, general hospital directors, and officials from the National Health Insurance Service.
The partnership discussed major agenda items for infectious disease prevention, including: free influenza vaccinations for all citizens (from September 22 to April 30 of the following year); free hepatitis A vaccinations for vulnerable groups aged 20 to 49 (from November 3, year-round); and free pertussis vaccinations for pregnant women, their spouses, and both sets of parents (from November 3, year-round).
To increase the vaccination rates for each infectious disease, the city decided to enhance publicity for the free vaccination programs and ensure that each institution and organization fulfills its respective role.
In addition, the current status of legally notifiable infectious diseases such as chickenpox and scarlet fever, which continue to occur, as well as information on emerging infectious diseases, was shared, and joint response measures were discussed.
Seongnam Mayor Shin Sangjin stated, "Through our response to COVID-19 and other infectious diseases, we have learned that protecting citizens’ lives and safety cannot be achieved by a single institution alone. Overcoming crises requires cooperation and coordination. I hope that, through communication and collaboration among the members of this partnership, we can continue to pursue meaningful initiatives together."
The Seongnam City Public-Private Partnership for Infectious Disease Response was established in December of last year.
