Promoting the Value of the Humanities

The College of Humanities at Pusan National University (Dean: Kim Imsuk, Professor of Japanese Language and Literature) will hold the 3rd Hyowon Humanities DAY for high school students and teachers on October 31 in the university headquarters' main conference room and the Humanities Building.

This event aims to share the social value of the humanities and provide opportunities for students to explore majors. It is expected to host approximately 200 first- and second-year high school students and teachers from the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions.

At the 2nd event held in January, 149 students participated in various humanities lectures and 12 department experience programs, achieving an average satisfaction score of 4.68 out of 5, demonstrating a strong positive response.

The 3rd Hyowon Humanities DAY will begin in the main conference room on the third floor of the university headquarters with a special humanities lecture ("New Possibilities for the Humanities through Digital Humanities") and an admissions information session. From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the venue will move to the Humanities Building, where experience booths for all 12 departments of the College of Humanities will be operated.

The departments participating in the experience program include Korean Language and Literature, Chinese Language and Literature, Japanese Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, French Language and Literature, German Language and Literature, Russian Language and Literature, Classical Chinese, Linguistics and Information, History, Philosophy, and Archaeology. Students will be able to freely visit the booths and experience unique programs offered by each department.

Souvenirs and on-site events will be provided based on the number of experiences completed, and participants can register online until October 21.

Dean Kim Imsuk of the College of Humanities stated, "Hyowon Humanities DAY is a meaningful opportunity to experience the appeal of the humanities firsthand and explore future career paths," adding, "We will continue to work to broaden the base of the humanities in collaboration with the local community."
