Gwangmyeong City to Install Automatic Opening and Closing Devices on All Apartment Rooftop Access Doors by Next Year
Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province will install automatic opening and closing devices on the rooftop access doors of all apartment complexes within its jurisdiction by next year.
On October 16, Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong City, visited Kumho Eoullim Apartment in Soha-dong to inspect the installation site of the rooftop access door automatic opening and closing device. He also reviewed evacuation routes in the event of a fire and checked whether residents' awareness had improved.
Kumho Eoullim Apartment in Soha-dong is an apartment complex that installed the rooftop access door automatic opening and closing device last year with support from the city.
Mayor Park stated, "The importance of securing rooftop evacuation routes was once again confirmed during the apartment fire incident that occurred in Soha-dong this past July. Next year, we will significantly expand our support for installations to create an environment where citizens can live with peace of mind."
To this end, the city secured an additional budget of 100 million won last month through a supplementary budget to support the installation of 200 automatic opening and closing devices. In particular, the city plans to allocate a budget next year to install devices at 300 locations, aiming to complete the installation of rooftop access door automatic opening and closing devices in all apartment complexes within its jurisdiction.
In addition to supporting the installation of automatic opening and closing devices for rooftop access doors, the city also plans to expand its support for installing fire safety facilities.

First, the city will support the installation of fire doors for common entrances, fire detectors, and the replacement of non-combustible finishing materials in pilotis-structured apartment complexes. The scope of the project will also be expanded so that small apartment complexes with fewer than 30 households can receive support when replacing fire doors or non-combustible ceiling materials.
