When Confronted, She Shouted, "You Can Just Charge Next to Me"
Online Users Criticize the Driver's Inconsiderate Behavior

A story has been shared about a woman who set up a tent and camped at an electric vehicle charging station, causing inconvenience to other users. On October 15, a post titled "Camping with a Tent at Yangyang Hajodae Electric Vehicle Charging Station" was uploaded to an online community, detailing the situation at the time. In the photo posted by the informant, identified as Mr. A, a tent is set up right in front of the electric vehicle charging station. Next to the tent, a car is parked, and two dogs are roaming nearby without leashes. The woman, presumed to be the owner of the tent and the dogs, is standing in front of the tent with her arms crossed.

Mr. A stated, "While on a family trip, I went to charge my car at the electric vehicle charging station in the parking lot of Yangyang Hajodae Beach, and there was a woman camping with two dogs and a tent." He continued, "When the woman came out of the tent, I asked her, 'Is this a place for camping?' She loudly responded, 'Can't you just charge next to me?'" Mr. A added, "She also let her two dogs roam without leashes, which caused trouble for my four-year-old child," and reported the woman to the police.

In fact, the police received a report about this incident at around 8:10 p.m. on October 9 and instructed the woman to move her camping setup to a location other than the electric vehicle charging facility. The story sparked criticism of the woman among online users, with comments such as, "Why are you camping at a charging station?" and "What if the unleashed dogs get hit by a car?" Some, however, defended the woman, suggesting, "Maybe she was just resting in the tent while charging her car."

Meanwhile, the Act on the Promotion of Development and Distribution of Environment-Friendly Automobiles clearly states that it is prohibited to stack objects or block passageways in electric vehicle charging facilities or charging zones. However, the imposition of fines for obstructing charging is under the jurisdiction of local governments, so the police do not directly issue fines. In this case as well, the police informed Mr. A of this and advised him to report the incident through the Safety Report Portal operated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. However, Mr. A said he was unable to file a report at the time because the portal was down due to a fire at the National Information Resources Service server.
