Taebaek City to Host '2025 Taebaek in Danpung Backpacking Festival' on October 18-19
Stay-Type Outdoor Programs at Cheoram Tantan Daero and Gumunso Areas
Taebaek City in Gangwon Province (Mayor Lee Sangho) announced on October 15 that the '2025 Taebaek in Danpung Backpacking Festival' will be held over two days, from October 18 to 19, in the areas around Cheoram and Gumunso tourist sites.
This event will feature a 'Tantan Daero Road Trekking' program, starting from Cheoram Elementary School and passing through Cheoram Danpung Maple Forest, Soebawugol Coal Mine Cultural Market, Cheoram Coal Mine History Village, Cheoram Station, Miners' Commute Route, and 365 Safe Town. It will also include a variety of experiential outdoor activities such as camping and busking performances at the Gumunso tourist site, making it a stay-type outdoor festival.
In particular, the storytelling-themed trekking program, set against the breathtaking scenery of the Cheoram Danpung Maple Forest and the Miners' Commute Route, is expected to enhance participant satisfaction. Additionally, by operating side programs in connection with local businesses, the event is anticipated to contribute to revitalizing the local economy.
As a result of accepting participant applications since September 23, more than 600 people have expressed their intention to join, showing high interest in the event.

A Taebaek City official stated, "We ask for your interest in this backpacking event, where you can enjoy a variety of experiences along with the autumn foliage," adding, "We will continue to promote Taebaek's natural beauty and work to attract more tourists in the future."
