Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju to Hold "Preemptive Employment Crisis Response Area" Information Session on the 16th
Gwangsan-gu, the First Designated Area, to Announce Government Support Measures
Employment Retention and Foreign Worker Employment Briefing for Companies and Workers
Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, which has been designated as South Korea's first "Preemptive Employment Crisis Response Area," will hold an information session at the Hanam Industrial Complex Management Corporation on October 16, in cooperation with the Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Office.
According to Gwangsan-gu on October 13, this information session is a follow-up measure to ensure that the designation as a "Preemptive Employment Crisis Response Area" leads to employment stability and industrial recovery. The session was proposed by Gwangsan-gu to the Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Office and is now being implemented.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor selected Gwangsan-gu as the first designated area in August. Amid local economic crises such as the management difficulties at Daewoo Winia and the fire at the Kumho Tire Gwangju plant, Gwangsan-gu led the establishment of this new system. Unlike the existing "Employment Crisis Area" designation, this system provides support even before a crisis occurs.
Since its designation, Gwangsan-gu has been holding a series of information sessions to enhance the effectiveness of support measures. Sessions were held at the Pyeongdong Industrial Complex and the Sochon Industrial Complex in September, making this the third session.
The session will provide information on "Support Measures for Preemptive Employment Crisis Response Areas" and the "Foreign Worker Employment Permit System." The requirements and procedures for support measures such as employment retention subsidies and livelihood stabilization loans will be introduced, and a Q&A session will be held for companies and workers. The Foreign Worker Employment Permit System, which is of particular interest to local businesses, will also be explained.
