KIOST to Shape the Future of Maritime and Fisheries... Hosts '2025 Sea AI Forum'
Convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Marine Science and Technology
The Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (President Lee Heeseung, KIOST), in collaboration with the Korea Maritime Institute (President Cho Jeonghee, KMI), will host the '2025 Sea AI Forum' on October 14 at the Event Hall of the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center.
This forum has been organized in line with the new government's national goals and implementation strategies, as the nation is making every effort to become one of the world's top three AI powerhouses in order to realize an "innovation-driven economy that leads the world." Industry, academia, research, and government will come together to explore ways to advance marine science and technology through AI innovation and data convergence in the maritime and fisheries sector.
Under the theme of "Convergence of Maritime and Fisheries Data and Artificial Intelligence," the event will be attended by over 200 representatives from both public and private sectors who possess and utilize maritime and fisheries data, including KIOST President Lee Heeseung and KMI President Cho Jeonghee.
KIOST has accelerated its digital transformation by establishing the "Marine Big Data and AI Center" within the organization and, since 2022, has been building and operating the "Coastal Big Data Platform," which releases 455 types of climate change and coastal environment data, thereby leading the way in opening and sharing marine information.
Recently, KIOST has also been providing customized marine environment data services for the Busan region in cooperation with the Busan Metropolitan City government.
The customized marine environment data service for the Busan region offers real-time marine environment services that integrate CCTV, satellite imagery, drone, and AI technologies through its website and the mobile application "Smart Ocean Village Busan."
