Sihwa Lake Marine Strategy International Forum to Be Held on the 16th... Future Marine Strategies to Be Discussed
Gyeonggi Province will host the "2025 Sihwa Lake Marine Strategy International Forum" at the Siheung Wave M East Hotel on October 16, 2025.
This forum, co-hosted by Gyeonggi Province, Hwaseong City, Ansan City, and Siheung City, will bring together more than 160 participants, including domestic experts in marine sports, tourism, and leisure, as well as international experts and influencers from New York and Singapore, to discuss future marine strategies for Sihwa Lake.
Gyeonggi Province enacted the "Gyeonggi Province Sihwa Lake Revitalization Ordinance" in 2023 and designated "Sihwa Lake Day" (October 10) in 2024. In June of this year, the province also established the "Sihwa Lake Revitalization Five-Year Plan," steadily laying institutional and administrative foundations to foster Sihwa Lake and its surrounding areas as a hub for marine leisure tourism.
This forum is a continuation of those efforts, serving as a meaningful occasion to explore strategies with domestic and international experts for developing Sihwa Lake into a world-class hub for future marine leisure tourism. It will also include a joint agreement among Gyeonggi Province, Hwaseong City, Ansan City, and Siheung City, expressing their commitment to mutual cooperation and declaring a new beginning for Sihwa Lake.
On the day of the event, the integrated brand identity (BI) for Sihwa Lake will also be unveiled.
Going forward, Gyeonggi Province plans to actively establish cooperative systems with the central government and related organizations both domestically and internationally, and to work towards attracting international waterfront and water-related conferences and events to Sihwa Lake, thereby elevating its global status and leading its globalization.
In addition, Hwaseong City, Ansan City, and Siheung City will continue to promote projects for the revitalization of Sihwa Lake, reflecting the unique characteristics and conditions of each locality. Alongside existing marine leisure sports, cultural, and festival events, they aim to build a "Sihwa Lake Marine Leisure Tourism Ecosystem" linked with marine leisure tourism, marine healing, and the production and distribution of related equipment. Through these efforts, they seek to promote virtuous economic development in the Sihwa region.
