Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province announced that the '2025 K-Onnuri Pass (Onnuri Gift Certificate Refund)' event, which is being held to revitalize traditional markets and restore the local economy, is bustling with great enthusiasm from citizens.
This event is being held from September 25 to November 9 at designated stores, including Gumi Saemaeul Central Market and Munhwaro·Jungang-ro Dongmun Shopping District.
Customers participating in the event receive a 20% refund of their purchase amount (up to 140,000 won) in Onnuri gift certificates when they make purchases above a certain amount. This has led to a tangible boost in consumption, resulting in increased sales for traditional markets and a simultaneous recovery of neighborhood businesses.
According to Gumi City, in the 13 days since the event began (from September 25 to October 9), sales amounted to approximately 1.6 billion won, and about 27 million won worth of Onnuri gift certificates were refunded to more than 17,000 customers.
Especially during the Chuseok holiday period (October 3 to 9), sales reached about 900 million won, and 9,035 people received refunds totaling approximately 140 million won. The event coincided with the holiday shopping season, resulting in high participation from the outset as citizens and tourists flocked to the traditional markets.
