Thai Durian Mogul Exposes Son's Affair on Facebook

Anon Lottong (65), the largest durian farm owner in southern Thailand, has drawn attention after posting a notice offering money to anyone who slaps his married son's mistress.

According to the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post (SCMP) on October 12, Anon, known as the "Durian Tycoon" in Thailand, recently posted on Facebook that he would pay 30,000 baht (about 1.3 million won) to anyone who slaps his son's mistress at least 10 times. Anon built his fortune by running a business that processes around 50 tons of durian daily.

Anon’s son Chai was married and had a child, but became infatuated with a mistress who was a colleague at the same company, neglecting his family. It was even reported that he threatened his wife with a gun and demanded she leave the house.

In his Facebook post, Anon stated, "I will even cover any police fines resulting from the assault," adding, "I posted this to protect my innocent daughter-in-law, seek justice, and ensure my son ends his affair."

Under Thailand's criminal law, simple assault can be punished by up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 40,000 baht (about 1.75 million won). Anon emphasized that he was prepared to face such legal consequences.

However, after the notice sparked controversy for allegedly encouraging violence, Anon eventually deleted the post. He explained, "Many people advised me that solving problems through violence could set a bad precedent, so I decided to withdraw the offer."

Instead, Anon announced that he would sever ties with his son and reclaim all assets registered under his son's name. He said, "I will recover the assets through a lawyer and transfer them to my granddaughter," adding, "I will forgive my son and let him go."

Upon hearing the story, online users responded with comments such as, "If you don't give your son any money, the mistress will leave on her own," "I thought he was going to hit his son with a durian," and "What a satisfying conclusion."
