Sokcho City Recruiting Participants for 2-Day “Transcending the World: Creating Connections” Event for Young Singles
Recruiting 15 Single Men and 15 Single Women from October 13 to 17
Event to Be Held at Naksansa in Yangyang on November 8-9
Sokcho City in Gangwon Province announced on October 12 that it will host the “Transcending the World: Creating Connections with Naksansa” event for single men and women of marriageable age from November 8 to 9 at the Naksansa Templestay Training Center in Yangyang.
This event aims to provide young men and women with natural and meaningful opportunities for connection and communication, and to promote the spread of a healthy marriage and family culture.
The program will take place in the serene atmosphere of a traditional temple. Participants will have the chance to interact naturally through activities such as rotation tea dates, wave meditation, couple yoga, and making lotus flowers for the heart. There will also be a Q&A session with the head monk of the Templestay Training Center, where participants can share their perspectives on love and marriage.
Applications will be accepted online via Naver Form from October 13 to 17. The event is limited to a maximum of 30 participants, with 15 men and 15 women.
Eligible applicants are single men and women aged 29 to 39 (born between 1986 and 1996). Applicants must meet at least one of the following four criteria: the applicant currently resides in Sokcho City; at least one parent resides in Sokcho City; the applicant’s workplace is located in Sokcho City; or the applicant is an employee of a local government in a sister or friendship city of Sokcho (Jongno-gu or Jung-gu in Seoul, Osan or Yongin in Gyeonggi Province, Jeongeup in North Jeolla Province, or Yeosu in South Jeolla Province).
Meanwhile, the “I Go to the Temple” templestay for single men and women, hosted by the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism Social Welfare Foundation, has drawn attention for its high competition rate and couple formation rate. At the fifth event held at Naksansa last year, 1,501 people applied, resulting in a competition rate of 70 to 1, with 20 participants selected and 6 couples formed. This year’s event at Sinheungsa saw a record 2,620 applicants, with 24 participants and 6 couples matched.
