Case Likely to Be Closed as "No Right of Prosecution"
On the day of Chuseok in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, a woman in her 50s killed her husband, who was suffering from dementia, and was later found dead herself.
According to police and other sources on October 10, at around 11:00 a.m. on September 6, Chuseok, a report was received that "someone has fallen into the flowerbed" at an apartment in Sangdang-gu, Cheongju.
Police confirmed that Ms. A had died after falling from the veranda of her apartment. They later found her husband, Mr. B, in his 60s, unconscious in the passenger seat of their car parked in the underground parking lot. Mr. B was transported to the hospital but died the following day.
Police believe that at around 10:10 a.m. on the day of the incident, Ms. A told the nursing home where Mr. B was staying that she would "go out briefly for a meal," took him out, and killed him in the car.
To determine the exact cause of death, police have requested an autopsy on Mr. B's body from the National Forensic Service. After investigating the circumstances of the incident, police plan to close the case as "no right of prosecution."
