Landslide Crisis Alert Raised to "Caution" in Gangwon Province
The Korea Forest Service announced that as of 9:00 a.m. on October 7, it has raised the landslide crisis alert level for Gangwon Province from "Attention" to "Caution."
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that rain would fall in most regions nationwide on October 7. In particular, it expects rainfall of 20 to 60 millimeters per hour along the east coast and mountainous areas of Gangwon, and around 5 to 30 millimeters per hour in the northern inland regions of Gangwon.
In response, the Korea Forest Service raised the landslide crisis alert level for Gangwon Province, taking into account the accumulated rainfall since the previous day and the weather outlook from the Korea Meteorological Administration. This measure aims to proactively respond to potential landslide disasters.
The landslide crisis alert consists of four levels: Attention, Caution, Alert, and Serious. As of October 7, Gangwon Province is the only region where the alert level has been raised to Caution.
The other 16 metropolitan cities and provinces are maintaining the Attention alert level.
