On October 3, the World Honam Association Federation visited Jeollanam-do with more than 250 members from around the world to commemorate the '2025 World Honam People's Day' and delivered a hometown love donation of 30 million won.
This donation was made possible through the participation of key executives, including Lee Gija, President of the Federation; Kim Wonbong, the second president; Lee Dongsu, the third president; Kim Youngyun, the fourth president; Kim Jeombae, President of the Federation of Korean Associations in Africa and the Middle East; Son Jaemin, the fourth and fifth president of the Federation of Honam Associations in China; and Kim Yongdeok, the eleventh president of the Tokyo Honam Association.
President Lee Gija stated, "We prepared this donation with longing and deep affection for our hometown. I am happy to contribute to the development of my hometown and will always support the progress of Jeollanam-do."
Jeollanam-do Governor Kim Youngrok expressed his gratitude, saying, "Even while overseas, Honam expatriates have continued to support the development of their hometown with pride, and have always stepped up whenever Jeollanam-do faced difficulties. I will do my utmost to repay your special interest and support for your hometown."
The World Honam Association Federation was established in 2013 and now has 2 million Honam expatriates active in 75 regions across 27 countries. Since 2001, the Federation has annually invited youth from the region (Gwangju, Jeollanam-do, and Jeollabuk-do) as part of ongoing efforts to demonstrate their love for their hometown.
