According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, around 800 specialists and public officials have been deployed to the National Information Resources Service, where the information systems were halted by a fire on September 26, to carry out restoration work. Private sector experts and personnel from research institutes have also joined the effort, maximizing restoration capabilities.
The current system recovery rate stands at a low 17.8%. The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters has begun discussions with the Presidential Office and financial authorities to secure reserve funds for the overall restoration of the Daejeon Center of the National Information Resources Service and the relocation of the 7-1 computer room system, which suffered significant fire damage, to the Daegu Center.
Minister Yoon emphasized, "We plan to maximize the restoration speed through the active use of reserve funds," adding, "It is expected that it will take some time to fully normalize the computer network. We intend to select key systems that are directly linked to the daily lives of citizens and establish separate management frameworks for them."
He continued, "For the selected systems, we will establish a comprehensive government-wide management system to provide alternative services for each system, operate a response system for public complaints, and offer detailed guidance through private portals to minimize inconvenience for citizens."
