Seeking Unsung Heroes Who Have Driven Community Development
The Gwangju City Council in Gyeonggi Province (Chairman Heo Kyunghaeng) announced on October 2 that it will accept nominations for candidates for the 17th Gwangju City Council Awards (hereinafter referred to as the "Council Awards"), which are scheduled to be held on November 27, until October 17.

View original imageThe Council Awards are a program that recognizes citizens and organizations who have contributed to the development of the Gwangju community and the improvement of citizens’ welfare. One recipient is selected in each of nine categories-culture and arts, education, sports, community service, community safety, administration, local economy, environmental conservation, and media-and is presented with a plaque of commendation.
Nominations for the Council Awards may be submitted by the Mayor of Gwangju, heads of towns, townships, and neighborhoods, as well as heads of relevant organizations and groups. In the administrative category, only public officials selected for the "2025 Gwangju City Council Compliment Relay" are eligible. Public officials from other organizations may be nominated only after undergoing the merit review process of their respective organizations.
