Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City: "Aiming to Become a World-Class Festival"
The 2025 Goyang Lake Art Festival, South Korea’s representative street art festival, hosted by Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Donghwan) and organized by the Goyang Cultural Foundation, was held from September 26 to 28 at Ilsan Lake Park, Ilsan Culture Square, Lafesta, and Western Dome, and concluded with great success.
Over the course of three days, under the slogan “Art Takes Flight on the Streets,” more than 100 top-tier street art performances from Korea and abroad were staged, offering audiences an unforgettable autumn night of inspiration.
This year’s festival was completed without a single safety incident, thanks to Goyang Special City’s thorough safety management efforts and the mature cooperation of its citizens, despite the large crowds in attendance.
In particular, with an enhanced lineup of family-friendly programs, participation from families and children stood out, and the area around Ilsan Lake Park was filled with a warm and vibrant atmosphere reminiscent of an “autumn cultural arts picnic.” The event also received praise for leaving a positive impression after its conclusion, as it was wrapped up cleanly without the common litter problems often seen at large-scale festivals.
Additionally, stages were set up at Lafesta and Western Dome, commercial districts near Ilsan Lake Park, encouraging festival-goers to naturally visit nearby businesses. This positioned the festival as a win-win event that not only provided entertainment but also revitalized the surrounding local economy.

The opening show, which combined fireworks, pyrotechnic displays, and aerial performances, drew much admiration and acclaim, and was broadcast live through the Goyang Special City YouTube channel, sharing the experience with an even wider audience.
For the closing performance, Korea’s top diva Park Junghyun took the stage, filling the autumn night by the lake with beautiful melodies. The audience responded with enthusiastic cheers and applause, bringing the three-day festival to a moving conclusion.
This year’s festival featured over 100 high-quality street performances, including “GSAF Choice,” selected through fierce competition, “GSAF Global” featuring world-renowned street art groups, and “Goyang Focus” with local street art troupes from Goyang Special City.
